Obituary in the Booneville Sentinel:
Cora B. Bowling, 93, widow of Zack Bowling, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Marymount Medical Center in London, KY. Mrs. Bowling was born in Owsley County on May 7, 1913, to the late Walter and Linda Sizemore Thomas. She was a homemaker an d a member of the Scoville Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (& Roy) Sizemore of London, KY; a daughter-in-law Elizabeth Jo Bowling of Chilicothe, OH; 14 grandchildren; several great and great, great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Bowling was preceded in death by two sons, Estill and Roy Lee Bowling; a brother, Ruford Thomas; and three sisters, Elizabeth Bell, and Daisy and Nellie Marshall.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:00 P.M., at the Booneville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phillip Proffitt officiating. Visitation was held on Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial in the Griffith Ce metery, Booneville, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Notes

Elisha was on the 1840 Clay County KY census with a spouse who was born 1810-1820. This means either that Rachel & Elisha lived together for a few years before they married in 1844 or that Elisha was married when he went to Missouri and his firs t wife died before 1844, perhaps enroute to Missouri. Although some have speculated that his wife, Rachel was a Frost based on the name of their first son, this is probably not so since Simeon Frost did not arrive in KY until after 1840 and Elish a was probably in MO by then. There is a marriage record there for him and Rachel McCollum in 1844.
Elisha had Real Estate valued at $200. on the 1850 Owsley Co. Census. He is listed as widowed on 1880 Owsley Co. Census.
